Pompeii is the most compelling archaeological site in Europe, and its appeal goes beyond tourism. You will also see from the distance the wonderful Vesuvius Mountain, the symbol of Naples area.

DAY 6AMALFI COAST BOAT TOUR

After Breakfast Pick Up directly from your B&B

Full Day small group Tour Amalfi Coast by boat (max 12 participants)! (Private motorboat available)

During this tour you will admire Marina Grande – ancient port of Sorrento, the ruins of the Roman villa of Senator Pollio dating back about 2000 years ago.

Marina di Puolo and Marina della Lobra – traditional fishing villages, are the next steps of the boat tour.

Left the island of Vervece (marine reserve) finally you will arrive in a small bay where the rocks open a cascade of fresh water.

Your first short stop to dive is the large rocks of Cala Mitigliano.  After rounding Punta Campanella, we enter the Gulf of Salerno and opens to our left the stretch of coast that reaches Positano, Conca dei Marini to Amalfi and beyond.

We arrive in the famous Amalfi Coast that UNESCO declared Patrimony of Humanity because of its beauty and integrity of ancient history. You will be enchanted by the deep blue color of the water due to the depth of the seabed and the immense prairie Poseidonia (typical Mediterranean seaweed) which extends from the Bay of Cala Ieranto towards the Mortelle, Marina del Cantone, Recomone and Crapolla. The coast covered with the typical Mediterranean vegetation borders the beaches and small villages of fishermen, between high mountains, islands, fjords and bays of crystalline waters.

The next stop will be the island that lies in front of Galli Positano, to bathe in its clear waters and in its wildlife. Mythology tells that Li Galli is identified with the place where the sirens lived and bewitched the sailors by making them shipwreck on the rocks.

After the bath the next stop is Positano, a resort existing since the days of the Roman Empire. This village has a thousand colors and lots of stairs that go from the city center down to the sea. The Fornillo beach is our first stop in Positano where, in a restaurant on the beach of the brothers Grassi you can eat a typical cold dish, the caprese: tomatoes, mozzarella, basil, extra virgin olive oil and homemade bread!

You will have two hours at leisure to visit Positano and then you will proceed towards Amalfi, one of the most important Italian Maritime Republics. We will make different stops to visit the beauties of Amalfi.

Back in the boat we will make a last toast and then route back to Sorrento accompanied by the cool afternoon breeze, lights and shadows of the Amalfi coast with a spectacular and romantic sunset.

OUR TIPS & BEST SPOTS

WINE WINDOW – Buchette del Vino

They are peculiar openings built into old majestic aristocratic family’s homes. The wine windows are typically set within a stone frame with a small wooden door that is used for the direct sale of wine.

In size, these small windows are about 23 cm wide and 36 cm in height (about 9 in × 14 in).

This opening was large enough to allow people to buy wine in a fiasco, the traditional bulbous Tuscan wine bottles.

Today, the Florence wine windows association, or Association Buchette del Vino, estimates more than 180 wine windows in Florence.

Our Favorite – Osteria delle Donne, Give the tiny door a knock, order a glass and out pops a hand, Enjoy!

BEST SANDWICH Pino Sandwiches  – Springtime our favorite!

BEST SUNSET – PIAZZALE MICHELANGELO

Florence seen from above is a singular experience. Not just a perfect photo opportunity, but a moment of wonder. You are looking at the city that gave birth to incredible artists, amazing scientists and an enthralling history of discovery and power that has filled novels and movie theaters.

No matter what time of day, you will find that Piazzale Michelangelo truly offers a stupendous lookout over Florence. Don’t be surprised if you also see it written as Piazzale Michelangiolo, this is from the archaic Florentine pronunciation and most definitely the one you see on street signs or the brown and white signs that indicate historic landmarks.  In any case, however you spell it, it is one site that should not be missed. It may be a classic tourist stop, but it never fails to capture the heart and imagination of those who follow the path to the very top.

The Birth of Venus by Botticelli, The Annunciation by Da Vinci,

The Venus of Urbino by Titian, The Bacchus by Caravaggio.

The Pitti Palace is one of the most impressive buildings in Florence and was the residence of the Medici family.

Immerse yourself in Tuscan art, architecture, and landscaping during this small-group tour. You’ll tick three of the top area highlights—Pitti Palace, the Palatina Gallery, and the Boboli Gardens—off your must-see list on a single tour.

Traveling with a small group means you’ll enjoy an intimate atmosphere and have plenty of time to ask questions.

Your guide will provide in-depth commentary about the Renaissance history and art objects of each stop.

Cover three top Tuscan highlights in a single tour.

  • Small group of just 12 people or fewer
  • Learn about the sites through guided commentary.
  • Headsets provided for groups of more than six participants.

Today, it is a large museum complex that houses several art galleries, including the Palatine Gallery with a rich collection of Renaissance paintings, and the Silver Museum with its collection of silverware, jewelry, and objets d’art.

AFTER VISIT The Boboli Gardens are one of the most famous Italian gardens in the world and extend behind the Pitti Palace. These historic gardens offer a scenic walk-through paths, fountains, statues, and large green spaces.

You can enjoy beautiful views of the city of Florence from the top of the gardens.

Among the main attractions are the Artichoke Fountain, the Neptune Basin, and the Buontalenti Grotto.

The Medici were the first to take care of its arrangement, creating the model of an Italian garden that became exemplary for many European courts.

The vast green area, divided in a regular way, constitutes a real open-air museum, populated by ancient and Renaissance statues, adorned with caves, first the famous one created by Bernardo Buontalenti, and large fountains, such as that of Neptune and the Ocean. The subsequent Lorraine and Savoy dynasties further enriched its structure, expanding the boundaries that run along the ancient city walls up to Porta Romana.

Of considerable visual suggestion is the terraced area where the eighteenth-century pavilion of the Kaffeehaus is located, a rare example of Rococo architecture in Tuscany, or the Limonaia, built by Zanobi del Rosso between 1777 and 1778.

ENJOY!

Lunch & Dinner at leisure.

I really suggest: Osteria Santo Spirito

Private transfer from your Hotel to Florence train station. about 1h 30 min drive.

Private car transfer from La Spezia train station to le Cinque Terre (Portovenere)

About 35 min.

Check in at your accommodation Hotel Villa Argentieri or same level in One Double Room in B&B Treatment.

Time to relax in the marvelous coastal village! During your free afternoon I would suggest touring Portovenere and the island of Palmaria (just in front of Portovenere), National Park, with no cars, few people, and the most beautiful sunset you can dream of, in front of you the magnificent beauty of Portovere and the sea of the Poet’s Gulf!!  (Ferry boat go/back from/to Palmaria to be payed on the spot, € 5,50 per person).

In alternative, possibility to hike and enjoy the most astonishing views from land and sea. You will stroll along the national park walking/hiking on the fabulous trails on the cliff (including famous via dell’Amore) in a perfect mix for a real memorable experience. (Naturalist guide optional).

You will start from Monterosso (1 hour from Portovenere- You can reach Monterosso via bus, taxi, or ferry) and arrive in Vernazza in 1 hour and 30 min. This wonderful footpath crosses vineyards and citrus orchards for 3,5 km. It is not dangerous, but you have to be a little bit careful. Some parts are broad and peaceful, and you can always enjoy a wonderful panorama over the sea. The footpath passes on a small stone-bridge, which is worth a picture. You can begin to see Vernazza in the distance, and the view of the coast is unforgettable. To relax a little bit you can find also a wooden table rich in inscriptions with two benches in a very panoramic position. When the trail begins to go down, the view of Vernazza is breathless. The path continues to go down among olive trees and cultivated fields, then it enters the town along the small lanes and ends between the small harbour on the right and the railway station on the left. In the last part you can decide to turn left among the houses and through a steep staircase you arrive nearby the Church of Santa Margherita di Antiochia.

Coming back to Monterosso I would suggest stopping for a visit at one the wonderful wine cellars, Begasti, that produces Sciacchetrà, a wine protected by slow food for its difficult way of production, based on a terraced agriculture.

My suggestion: Della baia; O chi o a ca toa.
